Chancellor Banks recently visited P.S. 192 to meet with Principal Abreu and the school community. The occasion was to celebrate the holiday spirit week and also to congratulate the school on its efforts to help victims of a recent fire in the community.
As Chancellor Banks arrived, he was greeted by a crowd of excited students, who were decked out in holiday-themed attire. The school had been celebrating spirit week all week long, with each day dedicated to a different holiday theme.
Principal Abreu greeted Chancellor Banks, and the two conducted a school tour and discussed the school's ongoing efforts to aid individuals affected by the fire. The school had gathered clothing, food, and other essentials for individuals in need.
Following the meeting, Fifth-grade students led by Ms. Rodriguez and assisted by Ms. Woods and Ms. Yurovskiy participated in a social-emotional exercise with Chancellor Banks.
It was a joyful and festive day at P.S. 192, and Chancellor Banks left feeling grateful for the dedication and compassion of the school community. He praised Principal Abreu and the students for their efforts to help those in need and for spreading holiday cheer throughout the school.
